Canada officially stops polycarbonate baby bottles. According to China Epoxy Resin Industry Association( www.epoxy-e.cn )Recently, the Ministry of health and the Ministry of environment of Canada jointly announced to the outside world that Canada is taking measures to prohibit the import and sale of polycarbonate plastic baby bottles containing bisphenol A, and the relevant laws are expected to be implemented this autumn. It is worth noting that Canada's move to control the production of polycarbonate plastic milk bottles is based on the fact that bisphenol A may cause potential harm to the nerves and behaviors of newborns and infants under 18 months of age. It does not prohibit or restrict all products containing bisphenol A, and hard glue recycling water bottles, plastic tableware and other food containers can still be used. Some studies have shown that bisphenol A has certain harm to human body, so the ban on it has been issued continuously. For example, Norway's POHS, which will take effect in the second half of 2008, explicitly forbids the use of bisphenol A in consumer goods; relevant States in the United States also take the lead in legislating to ban the production and sale of toys and child care products containing bisphenol A. Bisphenol A produced in the international market is mainly used for polycarbonate and epoxy resin, and polycarbonate accounts for more than half of the consumption. However, there is no consensus on the content of bisphenol A in the products in the world so far. China only uses polycarbonate molding products as food containers and packaging materials to soak in water. The content of phenolic substances in each liter of water should not exceed 0.05 mg A broad limit.
